The Byte Under 23 Women's World Championship will be held in conjunction with the Finn Under 23 Mens World Championship in Hungary from the 20th - 27th August 2017.

For the Notice of Race and more information, please see the event website at

It should be a great youth event!

Entry fee is 150 euros.

Please contact Paul Mckenzie (+33468926046) if you have any questions

If sailors would like to share boat transport with the UK finn sailors, Paul can put them in contact to see if the Finn sailors can take a few Bytes. Otherwise boats are available for charter for 500 euros at the event, including a few days training.

It should be a great event with many girls coming from European countries to race. We hope some of you will make it!

It was racing for 'grown-ups' in the Haversham Byte open over the weekend of June 6/7 because the younger section of the fleet were away training at Bowmoor. There were also a few other notable absentees who had tendered their excuses. In consequence the normally strong fleet was reduced to nine sensible sailors who could be guaranteed to perform with decorum in keeping with their adult status.

It was a bright and shiny morning last Saturday when 22 Bytes turned up at Bowmoor Sailing Club, supported by 17 Lasers, for the first Byte open of the season. A brisk wind blew across the clear blue tinged water from the clubhouse promising a tricky but exciting day of highly competitive sailing.

Congratulations to Rick Whitehouse from Combs SC who won 2 of the 3 races at the West Oxfordshire Byte Open last weekend in a beautifully warm but light breeze.  Rick managed to stay ahead of the local challenge provided by Mike Radford sailing at his home Club.  Mike finished second on equal points with Louis Saunders (Combs) but took second on count-back after winning the second race.  Congratulations to Matt Banbrook as first junior in 4th place and Rachel Moore as first lady in 7th place.

UK Byte Class Association National Championships – Weymouth 2017

Welcome to the 2nd of the UK Byte Class Association newsletters leading up to our National Championships at Weymouth from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd July 2017.  My distribution list has grown from 57 email addresses to over 104 in the last week.  I therefore apologise if there is a little bit of repetition in this edition as I’m keen to ensure that everyone is up to speed with the latest information.  For those addressees that I’ve not yet introduced myself too, my name is John Banbrook and I have the great privilege of being the Chairman of the UK Byte Class Association.
